Prenatal vitamins for hair growth?

Does taking prenatal vitamins really make your hair grow faster even if you are NOT pregnant? Does doing this have any other effects? Has anyone had success with this?

Also, is it safe?

Is it okay to take them in order to make your hair grow faster if you are on birth control too?Prenatal vitamins for hair growth?
Prenatal vitamins include extra Folic Acid, Iron, and Calcium in addition to normal doses of other vitamins and minerals commonly found in multivitamin tablets.

These vitamins and minerals don't affect hair-growth, unless you have a vitamin deficiency which is interfering with hair growth.

A pregnant woman needs extra Folic Acid, Iron, and Calcium because these are necessary for growth and development of the fetus inside her.

But if you are not pregnant. Then your body doesn't need increased doses of vitamins. And taking prenatal vitamins is not going to help you in any way.

The danger of ingesting prenatal vitamins for a long time when you are not pregnant is the possibility of iron overdose. Your body can't easily eliminate extra iron. And over time iron can accumulate and cause damage to internal organs, including your heart and brain.

Here is what one website says:

';Even a small amount of excess iron can damage heart and brain and other storage sites in the body and lead to heart attack or stroke.';

It is safe. Prenatal vitamins are just extra strong vitamins that have more of what pregnant women need. What your body doesn't use, just gets eliminated. Your hair will grow a little faster.
i put vitamin E on my hair after i wash it. it will be a little sticky until it dries but instead of the 1/2 inch a month i get almost three. good luck and it doesnt work over night. takes about a month to kick in. i use it every other time i wash my hair. just cheap vitamin E. i use the big capsules cause my hair is real thick. if your hair is thin, try the football shape vit. E.
Yes they are safe and can help your hair grow more quickly, but they are also known to make women more fertile and become pregnant more easily.
Folic acid is a key ingredient in prenatals.

Folic acid is something that helps your body replenish cells faster and what not.

That's what makes your hair grow, essentially.

It seems like an obvious yes; doesn't it?

And yet, when I asked this same question, all of the answers I got were ';yeah right, that's a bunch of crap, nothing makes your hair grow faster, blah, blah, blah...';

But I'd try it anyway, if I were you.

I plan to.

I mean, even if it doesn't make your hair grow faster, it'll still have a positive impact on your body as far as other componants of over-all health go.
